Rishad Hossain Returns to Lahore Qalandars for PSL Playoffs
Strong Season Performance
Bangladesh legspinner Rishad Hossain has rejoined Lahore Qalandars ahead of their crucial eliminator clash against Karachi Kings on Thursday in Lahore. The match is scheduled to begin at 8:00 pm local time. Rishad has already taken nine wickets in five games this season, maintaining an impressive average of 16.44.
International Commitments Before PSL Return
On Wednesday, Rishad was in Sharjah representing Bangladesh in the third T20I against the UAE. He featured in two of the three matches in the series, which the UAE won 2-1. Earlier in the month, he was among several overseas players flown out of Pakistan when the PSL was suspended due to border tensions.
Spin Trio for Qalandars
Qalandars now boast a three-man Bangladeshi spin unit. Alongside Rishad, the squad includes Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Shakib has appeared in one match, while Mehidy joined the side just days ago. This gives the team depth and variety, with Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf leading the pace attack.
Selection Challenges Ahead
With multiple bowling options available, the Qalandars face key decisions over their playing XI. Balancing their strong pace duo with three quality spinners could define their strategy heading into the eliminator and beyond.
Availability for PSL Campaign
Rishad will remain available for the remainder of Lahore Qalandars’ PSL 2025 campaign after the BCB extended his NOC until May 25. The PSL final is set for May 25, just three days before Bangladesh’s first T20I against Pakistan on May 28 in Lahore.
