Josh Hazlewood and Virat Kohli lead Royal Challengers Bengaluru to their maiden IPL title

Historic Stats from RCB’s Triumph in Ahmedabad

6255 – Days of Anticipation
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) played their first IPL match on April 18, 2008, against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Tuesday marked the end of their 6,255-day wait for a trophy after 286 games across the IPL and CLT20.

Previous Finals Record
Before this season, RCB had played four T20 finals – three IPL finals and one CLT20 final – losing all while chasing. Delhi Capitals (DC) now hold the record for most men’s T20 matches (274) without winning a title.

8 – Teams to Win IPL Trophy
RCB became the eighth team to win the IPL, leaving Punjab Kings (PBKS) and DC as the only franchises from 2008 yet to lift the trophy. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are the only other active franchise without a title.

1 – Krunal Pandya’s Unique Feat
Krunal Pandya became the first player to win the Player-of-the-Match award twice in IPL finals, having previously won in the 2017 final against Rising Pune Supergiant/s.

4 – Captains Winning IPL in Debut Season
Rajat Patidar joined an elite list of four players to win the IPL as captain in their maiden season. Shane Warne (RR, 2008), Rohit Sharma (MI, 2013 mid-season), and Hardik Pandya (GT, 2022) are the others. Patidar had played only four international matches before his IPL captaincy debut, the second-fewest after Nitish Rana (three).

4-0 – Krunal Pandya in IPL Finals
Krunal now has a perfect 4-0 win-loss record in IPL finals, having won three with MI in 2017, 2019, and 2020. Only Rohit Sharma surpasses him with six final wins. Krunal is one of eight players to feature in four or more IPL final victories.

10 – Players Contributing Significantly
Ten RCB players scored 20-plus runs or took a wicket on Tuesday. Exceptions were Phil Salt, who scored 16 runs and took a catch, and Suyash Sharma, who bowled two wicketless overs as the Impact Player. Only Delhi had previously achieved ten contributors in a men’s T20 final, against Rajasthan in the 2017-18 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

771 – Virat Kohli’s Record Fours
Virat Kohli now holds the record for the most fours in IPL history, surpassing Shikhar Dhawan’s 768 with a tally of 771.
