PSL 2025 to Continue Without DRS for Remaining Matches

Quetta Gladiators secure spot in PSL 2025 final with commanding playoff performance

PSL 2025 to Conclude Without DRS Following Suspension

Hawk-Eye Team Not Available

The remainder of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 will be played without the Decision Review System (DRS). The Hawk-Eye team, responsible for providing the technology, did not return to Pakistan after the tournament resumed. The league had been suspended earlier this month due to heightened border tensions between Pakistan and India.

DRS Missing Since Resumption

DRS had been a feature in the PSL since 2017 and was available until the suspension on May 7. However, since the restart, the first five matches have gone ahead without the system. No major incidents or controversies have been reported so far. Neither the PSL management nor the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has issued any official statement regarding its absence, though queries have been sent to both.

Logistical Challenges Amid Tensions

The uncertainty in scheduling caused by the border tensions created major logistical hurdles. The production crew had to extend their stay by an additional week, while one match in Multan was shifted to Lahore to minimize travel and equipment movement. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s home series against Bangladesh, originally set to begin on May 25, the day of the PSL final, was delayed by three days and reduced from five games to three.

Gladiators Secure Final Spot

On the field, Quetta Gladiators sealed their first final appearance since 2019 with a 30-run victory over Islamabad United in Qualifier 1. United, last year’s champions, will now face the winner of Thursday’s Eliminator between Karachi Kings and Lahore Qalandars at the Gaddafi Stadium. The winner of that clash will meet the Gladiators in Friday’s final.
