Hope and Seales End West Indies’ 34-Year Wait Against Pakistan

Historic Win in Tarouba

West Indies finally ended their 34-year wait for a men’s bilateral ODI series win over Pakistan, sealing it in style with a 202-run victory in Tarouba. Shai Hope’s unbeaten hundred and Jayden Seales’ career-best six-for delivered a result that was as emphatic as it was historic.

Seales’ figures of 6 for 18 are the joint second-best by a West Indian in ODIs, while Hope’s 18th century took him to third on the country’s all-time list. Together, they gave Pakistan no way back after a match-turning passage of just 92 balls.

Slow Start, Explosive Finish

For much of their innings, West Indies struggled to break free on a tricky surface. Pakistan’s slower bowlers, led by Abrar Ahmed, kept the scoring under control. But when Hope launched Nawaz for back-to-back sixes in the 44th over, the momentum shifted sharply.

Greaves joined the assault, with Abrar and Hasan Ali conceding heavily in the closing overs. Hope brought up his hundred with a crunching cover drive, and by the time the innings closed at 294 for 6, the final seven overs had produced 100 runs.

Seales Strikes Early and Often

Pakistan’s reply unraveled almost immediately. Seales removed both openers early before producing a ball to Rizwan that clipped the off bail without touching the stumps. Babar Azam fell soon after, trapped lbw for single figures, leaving Pakistan reeling at 23 for 4.

From there, the collapse was swift. Salman Agha and Hasan Nawaz tried to slow the damage, but Motie and Chase struck in quick succession. Seales returned to mop up the tail, with a direct hit from Chase ending the innings at 92 in 24.2 overs.
